Purpose-Built. Independently Tested. Since 2012.

The temperature inside your garage has a massive impact on your home’s comfort and energy efficiency. With Perth’s intense summer heat and cool winter mornings, an uninsulated garage door acts like a giant radiator, transferring extreme temperatures directly into your home.

ThermaDoor is Australia’s original, purpose-built garage door insulation. Designed specifically for sectional and tilt doors, our premium EPS panels block radiant heat, reduce street noise, and instantly upgrade the look of your garage with a durable, wipe-clean vinyl finish.

Proudly Australian owned and manufactured, we offer two simple ways to insulate your garage: order a DIY kit delivered anywhere in WA, or book a Professional Installation with our certified Perth technicians.

Australian Made. Australian Owned.

ThermaDoor is designed and manufactured in Queensland, with our factory at Chevallum on the Sunshine Coast. When you order a ThermaDoor DIY kit for delivery to Perth or anywhere in WA, you are buying Australian made insulation from a business that has engineered its product specifically for the Australian climate — not an imported generic kit adapted for local conditions.

Built for Perth & Western Australia's Climate

Intense Summer Heat

Perth summers are famously relentless. Weeks of 35°C+ days turn metal garage doors into giant radiators, pushing garage temperatures well over 50°C. ThermaDoor's EPS core and reflective foil backing work together to block radiant heat, keeping your garage significantly cooler even when your door faces the harsh afternoon sun.

Coastal Conditions & The 'Freo Doctor'

While the afternoon sea breeze brings relief, your garage has usually spent the entire day baking. ThermaDoor's laminated vinyl finish not only brightens the space but is highly durable and easy to wipe clean. Unlike batts or open-cell foam that degrade over time, our panels maintain their structural integrity year after year in WA conditions.

Chilly Winter Mornings

Perth might be known for its heat, but winter mornings regularly drop into single digits. An uninsulated garage bleeds your home's warmth straight out the door. ThermaDoor slows heat loss overnight, so stepping into your garage on a July morning isn't a shock to the system, and your stored gear stays protected from extreme fluctuations.

Here is how ThermaDoor changes what you can do with your garage.

Home Gyms

Train comfortably year-round — no more sweltering summers or chilly winters.

Home Offices

Quieter, more stable temperatures for better focus and lower energy bills.

Man Caves

A retreat that stays cool in summer and warm in winter for real downtime.

Hobby Studios

Consistent conditions that protect materials and make projects more enjoyable.

Playrooms

A safer, more comfortable space for children’s play – fewer drafts and hot/cold spots.

Pet Rooms

A calmer climate for pets, reducing heat stress in summer and chills in winter.

The Original. Still the Only.

ThermaDoor has been on the Australian market since 2012 — and in that time, no other brand has matched what we offer:

Before and after surface temperature readings of a garage door with and without ThermaDoor insulation
Before: 61°C surface temp. After ThermaDoor: 31°C. Disclaimer: Temperatures may vary depending on orientation and location of garage.

Verified R-Values You Can Trust

Under Australian Standards, insulation R-values used for building compliance must be calculated as system (assembly) values — not just the raw material.

Most garage door insulation products only quote R-values based on walls, floors, or ceilings or material values.  These numbers do not reflect how the product actually performs once installed in a moving garage door.

ThermaDoor is the only garage door insulation kit in Australia with independently calculated, dual-season door assembly R-values:

R1.43 (winter) / R1.39 (summer)

These values are calculated by a qualified thermal engineer to AS/NZS 4859.1 and AS/NZS 4859.2:2018 for the complete installed door assembly — not just the insulation panel on its own. Standard uninsulated steel garage doors perform at approximately R0.0, providing virtually no thermal resistance.

Our article on thermal bridging and garage doors explains why tested assembly values matter.

Three Layers. Engineered as One

High-Density EPS Core

Flame retardant, construction-grade expanded polystyrene foam is the primary insulator in every ThermaDoor panel. It slows conducted heat transfer through the door — keeping your garage significantly cooler in summer and warmer in winter, year after year.

UV-Stable Vinyl Facing

Durable, flame retardant, UV-resistant vinyl facing protects the panel from Australia's harsh climate. It resists fading, cracking, and weathering — delivering a clean, professional finish that holds its appearance and structural integrity for the life of the door.

Sisalation Foil Backing

Bonded to the back of every panel, this construction-grade foil reflects radiant heat, acts as a Class 2 vapour barrier, and achieves Group 1 fire performance classification. It's the same foil used to wrap Australian homes — completing the three-layer system.

Garage Door Insulation Across Perth & Western Australia

Our certified ThermaDoor technicians are based locally and provide coverage across the entire Perth metropolitan region, ensuring prompt and reliable service.

No matter your location, you will be looked after by a local expert who understands the specific needs of Western Australian homes.

Perth Northern Suburbs Service Area

Our northside team services all suburbs from the Swan River up to Yanchep, including Joondalup, Wanneroo, Hillarys, Duncraig, Clarkson, Balcatta, Morley, Scarborough, and surrounding areas. The northern corridor is one of Perth’s fastest-growing regions, with newer homes and large double garages that are particularly exposed to the intense summer heat — making garage door insulation one of the most effective upgrades a homeowner can make.

Perth Southern Suburbs Service Area

Our southside team covers all suburbs from the river down to Mandurah, including Fremantle, Cockburn, Rockingham, Melville, Canning Vale, Armadale, Baldivis, and the Peel region. The southern suburbs experience strong afternoon sun exposure and coastal humidity, both of which drive up garage temperatures and accelerate heat transfer into adjoining living areas — conditions that ThermaDoor is specifically engineered to address.

Perth Eastern Suburbs & Hills Service Area

We also service the eastern corridor and Perth Hills, including Midland, Ellenbrook, Swan Valley, Kalamunda, Mundaring, Forrestfield, and Victoria Park. The Hills and eastern suburbs experience some of Perth’s most extreme temperature swings — scorching summer days followed by genuinely cold winter nights — making year-round thermal performance critical for garages used as workshops, home gyms, or living extensions.

Perth Western Suburbs Service Area

Our team is ready to service the coastal strip and inner-west, including Cottesloe, Claremont, Subiaco, Nedlands, City Beach, Leederville, and East Fremantle. While the sea breeze keeps temperatures more moderate along the coast, the salt-laden air and high UV exposure in these suburbs can degrade unprotected garage door surfaces over time — ThermaDoor’s durable vinyl laminate finish adds a protective layer while delivering real thermal and acoustic benefits.

DIY kits ship to all Western Australian postcodes.

David Dee

Karen and the crew were fantastic to deal with from start to finish. The product is amazing and has decreased the temperature in our garage by 10–15 degrees C and also decreased the temp in our house. It was super easy to self install. Massive thumbs up!”

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Paul Bonner

“Our garage was very hot and a suggestion from a friend meant that we contact ThermaDoor. From the initial contact to the completion, the company was very professional. The product is very good and I would definitely get their team to install. Today Don arrived on time and got the job done very quickly. The addition of the door seals was a good decision as they remove any dust and breeze that used to come through the sides and top.”

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lorraine Lazzar

“Garage temps have dropped 4–6°C since installation and so glad we installed the ThermaDoor panels. We built a new house in 2023/2024 and the garage door gets full western sun every afternoon. I made sure to take note of our garage temps before installation and noticed immediately after installation the temp dropped 4–6°C in summer and in winter it’s not as cold. I also noticed the noise is reduced.”

It also retains warmth during cooler southern winters, improving overall comfort and reducing energy transfer into adjoining living areas.

Absolutely. If you live in regional Western Australia or prefer to handle the installation yourself, our DIY garage door insulation kits are available for delivery statewide. Yes. In addition to thermal benefits, ThermaDoor insulation significantly reduces acoustic transfer.
