High-Density EPS Core
Flame retardant, construction-grade expanded polystyrene foam is the primary insulator in every ThermaDoor panel. It slows conducted heat transfer through the door — keeping your garage significantly cooler in summer and warmer in winter, year after year.
UV-Stable Vinyl Facing
Durable, flame retardant, UV-resistant vinyl facing protects the panel from Australia's harsh climate. It resists fading, cracking, and weathering — delivering a clean, professional finish that holds its appearance and structural integrity for the life of the door.
Sisalation Foil Backing
Bonded to the back of every panel, this construction-grade foil reflects radiant heat, acts as a Class 2 vapour barrier, and achieves Group 1 fire performance classification. It's the same foil used to wrap Australian homes — completing the three-layer system.
Why Lamination Changes Everything
Those three layers work because of how they’re put together. Most garage door insulation products are simply loose materials inserted into a door, they shift, separate, and fail over time.

Every panel is engineered specifically for garage doors, and every panel is laminated using a similar process applied to luxury caravan and marine interior manufacturing.
Lamination fuses the EPS core, UV-stable vinyl facing, and construction grade sisalation foil into a single, cohesive panel. There is no glue to fail, no layers to separate, and no air bubbles to compromise performance. The result is a purpose-built system that performs as one, not three repurposed materials trying to work together.

What you are seeing: The blue areas show ThermaDoor panels doing their job — blocking radiant heat. The red and orange areas are the steel hinges and panel joins conducting heat straight through the door. This is thermal bridging, and it happens in every sectional garage door. Most products sold as garage door insulation are generic building materials adapted to a use they were never designed for. ThermaDoor is purpose-built for the daily movement, weight tolerances, and thermal demands of a sectional or tilt garage door system.
What R-value does ThermaDoor achieve?
ThermaDoor delivers independently calculated R-values of R1.43 (winter) and R1.39 (summer) for the complete installed door assembly — not just the raw material. These values are calculated by a qualified thermal engineer to AS/NZS 4859.1 & 2:2018, the same standard used for NCC and NatHERS compliance.
Will the panels fall out or separate over time?
No. Each panel is factory heat-laminated under pressure — the EPS core, vinyl facing, and Sisalation foil backing are fused into a single rigid unit. There is no glue to fail, no layers to shift, and no assembly required at home. The panels move with the door as one piece for the life of the door.
Will ThermaDoor add too much weight to my garage door motor?
No. A full 16-panel kit adds approximately 7kg to the door — well within the tolerance of any standard garage door motor and spring system. The panels are specifically engineered to be lightweight, avoiding additional strain on springs, hinges, or motors.
Can I install ThermaDoor myself?
Yes. DIY installation on a standard 16-panel sectional door takes approximately 2–3 hours with basic hand tools. No drilling, no glue, no trade skills required. Full step-by-step video guides are included with every kit.
